France president François Hollande has reiterated French support for the Central African Republic authorities to maintain authority in the country.
This was the outcome of a meeting at Élysée on Monday between the French President and his counterpart of the Central African Republic Faustin-Archange Touadera.
It is their first meeting since the withdrawal of French “Operation Sangari” forces from the Central African Republic last year.
Holland also commended the United Nations for their work in the country, especially in Bambari.
The French president added that France would like to contribute in restoring peace and security in the city.
France launched “Operation Sangaris” in December 2013 to to put an end to a series of killings after the overthrow of President François Bozizé by Seleka fighters mainly Muslims, which caused a push back from the christian anti-balaka militias.
A press release from Élysée says France would assist the Central African Republic in fight against impunity and has suggested the creation of a Special Criminal Court to fight graft in the country.
